The amount of styling product that many people put in their hair can lead to severe thinning and damage. Despite this, thick luscious hair is still considered desirable and a sign of virility. Whether you have long hair past your neck or a short, neat crop; thick hair is always desirable. Whether you suffer from naturally thin hair or have brought it on yourself with consistent dying and mistreatment; there are steps that you can take to prevent the onset of thinning hair and you could soon have a thick head of hair again.
The first step starts inside your Barber Shop. Even if you do not need or desire to lose any length on your current haircut, a trip to your local Barbers or Hairdressers could help significantly. Ask your Barber to trim any frayed edges, split ends or damage hairs. Ridding the head of these unhealthy hairs will allow the other hairs to prosper and thicken. Consider unhealthy hairs in a similar manner to weeds and strive to weed them out.
The next step is to massage your scalp. Whilst washing your hair in the shower or the bath, use a shampoo that contains eucalyptus oil or peppermint and massage gently into your scalp. This will serve to stimulate the head and increase circulation and blood flow to the follicles. Make sure you massage your scalp for around 30 seconds before you wash it off.
Try and use shampoos and conditioners that do not consider
sulphate. Sulphate can dry out the hair in a dramatic fashion. Shampoos that
contain sulphate are the most likely to kill the natural oils that are found in
hair, these natural oils are essential for the health of your barnet.
Ensure that you condition your hair at least twice a week. Conditioner keeps your hair healthy and hydrated. This means that it is fair less likely to split and dry out. The more healthy hairs you have, the thicker and more luxurious your cut will look. Furthermore, it will make the hair incredibly soft to touch. Allow yourself hair that girls will clamber over one another to run their fingers through.
Try to avoid straightening your hair as much as you can. If you have just invested in an expensive pair of GHDs, this may not be the advice that you really want to hear, but it could be the difference between a life of wearing hats and having thick luscious hair.
